A sunset surf at Compton Bay

I could write a thousand love poems about the Isle of Wight. It never fails to surprise me with its underrated beauty. After keeping a close eye on the weather forecast, I knew that we were due some beautiful ocean-scapes over the May bank holiday weekend. I love a moody, angry ocean, any extreme weather conditions excites me a lot. On the Friday night a large ocean swell brought out the island surfers for some messy fun at Compton Bay on the west coast. I really couldn’t have asked for a better evening watching a hazy sunset capturing this scene unfolding around me. It’s incredible how the weather changes so dramatically here. The day before I was paddle boarding on the same beach in glassy, still water. My little island could easily be mistake for the Down Under.
